Summary

DOKO is a local-first iPhone inventory app. By default, inventory data and photos are stored on the user's device. DOKO does not require an account, ChatGPT login, advertising identifier, analytics account, or developer-operated backend in the current build.

Cloud Boost is optional. If the user enables Cloud Boost, stores an API key, chooses a photo analysis action, and confirms upload when confirmation is enabled, DOKO may send the selected photo and related scan context to the configured external AI service for item detection.

Data Stored On Device

DOKO may store the following data locally on the user's device:

  • Rooms, zones, containers, and item records
  • Item names, categories, position hints, notes, and search aliases
  • Imported or captured photos used for scan input
  • Generated item thumbnails
  • Scan candidates and local analysis results
  • Backup import/export state
  • Non-secret Cloud Boost settings

The Cloud Boost API key is stored in Keychain. API keys are not included in inventory snapshots, .dokoarchive backup files, CSV exports, app logs, or user-visible errors.

Photos And Camera

DOKO requests camera and photo library access so the user can capture or select photos for item registration and thumbnails.

Local Analysis runs on device. Photos are not sent to an external AI service during Local Analysis.

Cloud Boost

Cloud Boost is an optional bring-your-own-key feature. When Cloud Boost is used, DOKO sends the selected photo, location context, and local scan observations to the configured external AI service using the user's stored API key.

DOKO does not operate its own Cloud Boost backend in the current build. The external AI provider may process data according to that provider's terms and privacy policy.

Backups And CSV Exports

.dokoarchive backup files contain inventory data and item thumbnail image data. They do not contain API keys.

CSV exports contain item rows for spreadsheet review. CSV files do not contain thumbnail image data or API keys.

Users control when backup and CSV files are created and where those files are stored or shared.

Tracking And Advertising

DOKO does not include advertising, third-party tracking, or analytics in this build. DOKO does not sell personal data.

User Control

Users can:

  • Edit or delete items in the app
  • Change or remove item thumbnails
  • Delete the stored Cloud Boost API key from Settings
  • Export backups and CSV files
  • Import backups by merging with or replacing current inventory data

Deleting the app removes app container data according to iOS behavior. Exported backup and CSV files remain wherever the user saved them.
